The Curriculum
In providing for your children we are guided by the requirements of the National Curriculum and the requirements of Lincolnshire Education Authority.
The curriculum provision at Halton Holegate Church of England Primary School takes account of every aspect of a child’s development. Our curriculum gives children the opportunity to achieve the highest possible standards of Literacy and Numeracy whilst promoting and ensuring their physical, artistic, practical and social skills. Our school provides a broad and balanced education allowing for all pupils individual needs to be met within well-planned cross-curricular learning experiences.
At our school we celebrate success at all stages of a child’s school career. Our children are encouraged to think, discuss, share, persevere and respect others. Depending on the children’s needs and the learning they are undertaking they work individually, in pairs, in small groups, within year groups, as class groups and sometimes in cross-Key Stage groups. Classroom based learning is frequently supported by a range of educational visits out of school and through many visitors to the school.

Children in Reception follow the ‘Foundation Stage’ curriculum working towards the achievement of Early Learning Goals. Religious Education is taught through the ‘Lincolnshire Agreed Syllabus for R.E.’.
At Halton Holegate Church of England Primary School our aim is to teach the curriculum in creative and innovative ways which excite and stimulate all our children promoting good understanding in all areas as well as developing key skills. Our school is committed to promoting skills of ‘life-long learners’.
After School Activities
Our school is proud of the extra curricular activities it offers and we encourage our children to take part in after school activities both to develop new skills and foster social interaction. We currently offer a wide range of extra curricular activities including Football, Netball, Choir, Gardening, Chess, ICT and Key Stage 1 crafts club.
After school and Breakfast Club
We are delighted to be able offer all the children at our school the opportunity to attend our after school and breakfast club provision. This extended school day has already been running at our school for a number of years and the Stay and Play Breakfast and After School Club caters for children between the ages of 4-11 years old. The Stay and Play Club offers very reasonably priced childcare provision for working parents and is also used by many children as an opportunity to socialize and have fun. The Breakfast Club is open every morning from 7.30-8.30 a.m. The children who attend Breakfast Club are offered a varied, healthy breakfast and play activities. The After School Club operates from 3.00pm-5.00pm at present. The children are again given a light healthy snack and are able to participate in a wide and varied programme of activities. We would be very happy to provide any parents with further details about the Stay and Play After school and Breakfast Club.
School visits
Our policy is to try to take our children out of school to extend their learning experiences as often as possible throughout the school year. We believe these visits significantly enhance learning and are closely linked with and support our school curriculum. For some school visits to take place voluntary contributions from parents may be asked for. In accordance with the 1988 Education Reform Act there is no obligation to contribute to these activities but if there is insufficient funds then school trips may be cancelled.
Friends of Halton Holegate School (FHHS)
All parents, guardians and relatives of children at our school are invited to become involved with the FHHS. The FHHS organises fun and fund raising events for the children such as school discos, summer fayres, competitions and Christmas events. All money raised is used for the children, to fund trips and buy equipment for example. Anybody able to offer help to the FHHS would be extremely welcome and can contact the FHHS team via the school office.
